Forgotten password on vista administrator

It appears as though the system got corrupted the last time I backed up my computer because when I previously used the command prompt, the last administrator logon date coincided with the last backup date shown on the backup drive. I think this was the cause of my initial problem of my admin password being rejected when I tried to log in as administrator. Since Vista is no longer supported, I need to transfer the contents of my computer. However, the administrative password I know comes up invalid and cannot access my administrator account.

I don't have a reset disk for it and did not remember changing it before. There is no way for me to do any download or back up without the administrator authorization.
